Pence dodges on Trump’s confidence in Comey: ‘You’ll have to ask him’

Vice President-elect Mike Pence on Sunday dodged a question on whether President-elect Donald Trump has confidence in FBI Director James Comey.

“You’ll have to ask him about that,” Pence said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“I know it’s been a subject of some commentary of this last week, but at the end of the day, I know that, whether it’s our security at home or abroad, that the president-elect is going to put the safety and security of the American people first.”

{mosads}Pence said the president-elect has had conversations with Comey.

When pressed, Pence reiterated that it would be a good question for Trump after his inauguration later this week.

Trump over the past week has criticized the intelligence community.

Last week, he tweeted that the intelligence community “probably” leaked recent reports against him “even knowing there is no proof.”

Last Tuesday, CNN reported that Trump had been briefed by top intelligence officials on a dossier that claimed Russia possessed potentially compromising information about him. Hours later, Buzzfeed published the 35-page dossier of unverified material, which contains multiple known errors.

Last week, Comey met behind closed doors with House Democrats, who confronted him over his role in the presidential election.
