UK: Shots fired at base used by US Air Force, one man detained
A base near London used by the U.S. Air Force was put in lockdown Monday after a “disturbance” was reported and shots were fired.
Authorities responded to RAF Mildenhall, where American service personnel fired shots and a man was taken into custody with cuts and bruises, according to Suffolk Police.
Police have responded to reports of a disturbance at RAF Mildenhall in #Suffolk and a man has been detained with cuts and bruises and taken into custody. No other people have been injured as a result of the incident.

No others were injured in the incident, police said. Authorities asked locals to avoid the area.
Euronews reported that an individual tried forcing their way onto the base in a vehicle.
The base was locked down at 1 p.m. local time, or 8 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, following reports of the disturbance, according to a statement on the base’s Facebook page.
ABC News reported shortly after 10 a.m. that the lockdown had been lifted.
The base is located roughly 75 miles north of London.
