Schiff on Trump’s ‘spygate’ claims: He is asserting an imagined world is real
House Intelligence Committee ranking Democrat Adam Schiff (Calif.) on Friday hammered President Trump’s claims that a spy was embedded in his 2016 presidential campaign for political purposes, saying Trump keeps asserting that his own “fictional world” is reality.
It is one thing to imagine a fictional world. It is another to repeatedly assert that something imagined is real. The first is the realm of the novelist. The second is that of a demagogue. https://t.co/ofhIb5QF2a

Schiff’s attack on Trump comes a day after a group of lawmakers met with the FBI, Justice Department and intelligence officials about an FBI informant who worked on Trump’s campaign.
Democrats said after the meetings that there was “no evidence” that the FBI placed a spy in Trump’s team.{mosads}
“Nothing we heard today has changed our view that there is no evidence to support any allegation that the FBI or any intelligence agency placed a spy in the Trump campaign or otherwise failed to follow appropriate procedures and protocols,” Schiff said on Thursday.
Schiff also said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the latest claim from Trump isn’t “spygate,” but “liegate.”
“The president said that there was wiretapping at Trump Tower. That was false. He said there was an unmasking conspiracy. That was false. He said that there [were] political spies embedded in his campaign. That is false,” Schiff said.
Trump continued his attacks on special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe on Friday morning, tweeting, “Can anyone even imagine having Spies placed in a competing campaign, by the people and party in absolute power, for the sole purpose of political advantage and gain?”
Trump has said that “spygate,” as he calls it, could prove to be a bigger political scandal than Watergate.
SPYGATE could be one of the biggest political scandals in history!
