Napolitano: Trump Jr. thinks he will be indicted by Mueller

Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano said Wednesday that Donald Trump Jr. has spoken privately to friends, telling them he expects an indictment forthcoming from Robert Mueller’s special counsel office.

In an interview with “Live PD” executive producer Dan Abrams first reported by Mediaite, Napolitano said that both he and Trump Jr. apparently expect that the president’s eldest son will face charges related to Mueller’s investigation of Russian election interference, including possible coordination with the Trump campaign.

{mosads}“I don’t know who, but I do know that Donald Jr. has told friends he expects to be indicted,” Napolitano told Abrams, who also serves as chief legal analyst for ABC News.

“Do you expect he’d be indicted?” Abrams prompted.

“Yes,” the former judge responded.

Napolitano, who has in the past defended Mueller’s investigation from critics on Fox News and elsewhere on the right, added it was a “huge deal” that former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn was reportedly still cooperating with Mueller’s investigation.

“The president himself should be extremely uncomfortable about this,” Napolitano said.

Mueller wrote in court documents this week that Flynn’s cooperation with multiple investigations warranted a lighter sentence with no prison time. Flynn pleaded guilty last year to lying to investigators about his contacts with Russia, and also faces investigation over his undeclared lobbying work for Turkey.

“The offense level and guideline range, however, do not account for a downward departure pursuant to Section 5K1.1 of the United States Sentencing Guidelines reflecting the defendants substantial assistance to the government, which the government has moved for contemporaneously,” Mueller’s prosecutors wrote in court filings.

Under federal law, Flynn faces between zero and six months in prison and up to a $9,500 fine for lying to the FBI.
