Brennan shreds ‘misleading & highly politicized’ Barr memo

Former CIA Director John Brennan ripped Attorney General William Barr’s memo to Congress about special counsel Robert Mueller’s report before the document was released as “misleading & highly politicized.”

“I subsequently learned from the Mueller report that there was a lot more evidence of collusion and obstruction of justice than was indicated in the misleading & highly politicized Barr memo,” Brennan tweeted on Wednesday.

“Your obvious fear of Congressional action is warranted & your dishonesty is appalling,” he said in the message directed at President Trump.{mosads}

Trump tweeted Tuesday quoting remarks the Obama-era CIA director and MSNBC commentator made in March following Barr’s characterization of the Mueller investigation.

“I don’t know if I received bad information, but I think I suspected there was more than there actually was,” Brennan said in March on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

In March, Barr sent a memo to Congress detailing the findings of the Mueller report before its release. He said that Mueller’s team did not find evidence of conspiracy between Russia and the Trump campaign and that it did not provide enough evidence to pursue an obstruction of justice charge against the president. 

In April, the report was released and it detailed 10 “episodes” where the president may have obstructed justice. It was later revealed that Mueller wrote a letter to Barr slamming his summary of the report and saying that it caused “public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation.”
