Trump: Page transcript shows FBI was ‘broken and corrupt machine’

President Trump lashed out at the Justice Department after a House Republican released transcripts of former FBI lawyer Lisa Page’s closed-door interview with the House Judiciary Committee.

He said that it showed the FBI under former President Obama was a “broken and corrupt machine.”

“The just revealed FBI Agent Lisa Page transcripts make the Obama Justice Department look exactly like it was, a broken and corrupt machine,” he tweeted on Wednesday. “Hopefully, justice will finally be served. Much more to come!”

Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) on Tuesday released transcripts of interviews his committee did with Page in July.

The transcripts show that she defended the FBI against allegations of bias against Trump.

{mosads}Page came under scrutiny after anti-Trump text messages between she and former FBI counterintelligence official Peter Strzok surfaced.

Page in the interview said agents also criticized former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, but that the agents’ feelings didn’t affect investigations of either candidate.

“Many of us in law enforcement dislike the subject of our investigations. We are not keen on pedophiles and fraudsters and spies and human traffickers,” Page said in the transcript, according to The Washington Post. “That is fine. What would be impermissible is to take that harsh language and to act in some way that was illegal or against the rules. And we don’t do it.”

She also clarified a text sent to her by Strzok in which he said the investigations of Trump were like an “insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.”

Page said that he was trying to say, “Let’s not, you know, throw the kitchen sink at this because he’s probably not going to be elected, and so then we don’t have quite as horrific a national security threat than we do if he gets elected,” according to the Post.
