President George W. Bush joins Facebook

Update: It’s been a busy day for President Bush on social media; he
joined Twitter today (note: It now appears the Twitter account is run by a supporter of the current
president and is not official. Stay tuned.) as well where he is currently following
his successor President Obama, his 2000
primary opponent Sen. John McCain, (R-Ariz.), the
Republican National Committee and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. He had 1,995
followers at the time of this post.

Bush’s first tweet: “I’m now on Twitter & Facebook. Stay Tuned for updates!”

Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes also notes that Bush joins a host of current and former world leaders on Facebook including President Clinton, British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
