Blogging pioneer applies startup principles to policy-making

Dash said working with limited resources and consulting friends for
advice or knowledge come as second nature to startups but are anathema to government. His organization has pushed the White House to
use crowdsourcing to solicit policy ideas from the public.

In doing so, they had to overcome traditional bureaucratic inertia and help the government consolidate its social media approach to collect ideas from multiple platforms, including Facebook and Twitter. He listed a number of ideas that were collected as part of a White House project as proof that the public is capable of generating valuable suggestions.
