Critics fault spectrum auction plan for first responders: FCC officials and some first responder advocates disagree over an FCC plan to
auction off a chunk of the public airwaves, using the proceeds to make
available a nationwide network for firefighters and police. First responders
panned the plan during a hearing on Thursday, saying it does not go far enough.
New York City Police Department Deputy Chief Charles Dowd said, “Our
analysis is that that 10 megahertz will not be sufficient on an emergency
basis,” Tech Daily Dose reports.

 “The more bandwidth that you make available, the faster it
will be consumed.”

on reports that Verizon will follow AT&T in charging according to how much
bandwidth customers use (Bloomberg).

600,000… The number of iPhones sold on the first day the
device became available for pre-order, according to Apple. AT&T suspended
pre-orders after the traffic volume overwhelmed its website and fueled reports
that some users’ information was revealed, following a high-profile hack of
AT&T earlier this month.
