The FBI is targeting an online Wiki for improperly publishing federal property, but it’s not the one you may think. The Bureau sent a letter in July to the Wikimedia foundation, the parent organization of online encyclopaedia Wikipedia, demanding it stop using an image of the FBI’s seal as part of an entry on the agency. An FBI spokesman told the New York Times that it is illegal to use the seal without the permission of the FBI’s director, and the Bureau has threatened litigation. Wikipedia sent back a response pointing out that many other websites display the seal and promising to argue their views in court.
