The announcement marks the latest in an exodus of top-level FCC staff. The agency’s general counsel and the chiefs of the Wireless, Wireline and Public Safety Bureaus have all stepped down in recent weeks.
In a statement, Genachowski called Gotthemier “one of my most trusted advisers.”
“Josh has played a key role in nearly every one of our accomplishments, from the agency’s work to obtain landmark authority from Congress to run the world’s first voluntary incentive auctions to unleash spectrum for broadband, to our review of complex transactions,” Genachowski said in a statement.
