Sunlight wants more transparency from Congress
The nonprofit also unveiled the Influence Explorer website, which provides a comprehensive overview of data on state and local campaign financing and lobbying. Users can search by company, lawmaker or prominent individual and “see how they’re influencing the political system” by tracking their political donations, dollars spent on lobbying and personal or political action committee campaign contributions.
Data is available for the two decades since the Federal Election Commission began keeping electronic records, in 1989-90. The data originally comes from the Center for Responsive Politics and the National Institute for Money in State Politics.
