Apple sued over alleged privacy violations with iPhone, iPad

“None of the defendants adequately informed plaintiffs of their practices, and none of the defendants obtained plaintiffs’ consent to do so,” the suit alleges.

Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) wrote to Facebook and MySpace after reports of similar issues with third-party applications on those platforms emerged in October. The next Congress is expected to take a close look at possible legislation that would regulate how technology companies should handle users’ private data.
