AT&T, Free Press to testify at net neutrality hearing
Republicans are intent on undoing the regulations, while AT&T and the cable industry group NCTA said they could live with them and came to a compromise deal with the FCC last year.
That was in part to fend off threats of tougher regulations and in part to move past the issue and create certainty. Both said no rules are necessary. Other providers took a different stance, with Verizon choosing to sue the FCC for passing its rules.
The communications industry heard from House Republicans last week that they are not doing enough to fight the regulations.
Wednesday’s net neutrality panel will include Robin Chase, CEO, Buzzcar; Tom DeReggi, President, RapidDSL & Wireless; Derek Turner, Research Director Free Press; Jim Cicconi, Sr. Exec. Vice President, External and Legislative Affairs, AT&T; Prof. Shane Mitchell Greenstein, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University; and Anna-Maria Kovacs, Strategic Choices.
