The Week Ahead: Net neutrality approaches the floor

And the debate over reallocating the airwaves gets one of its most high-profile events yet on Wednesday.

The White House is planning a forum on spectrum auctions at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building featuring Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski, Austan Goolsbee, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, and Jason Furman, Deputy Director of the National Economic Council.

The FCC digs into the weeds on Wednesday in an all-day event on intercarrier compensation reform. Genachowski opens the day, which will feature top analyst and industry participants. The bipartisan members of the FCC have committed to moving on ICC reform this year.

Meanwhile, the FCC has its monthly meeting on Thursday, where it is expected to vote on a data roaming proposal.

Wireless carriers are divided on the issue, with the little and medium guys hoping for the proposal to mandate data roaming agreements.

Free Press kicks off a major media reform conference in Boston on Friday, with an all star line up.

It’s set to feature Minority Leader Pelosi, FCC Commissioners Michael Copps and Mignon Clyburn, Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) and others.
