Obama: ‘I love to see high-tech machinery’
{mosads}Obama acknowledged the challenge of high gasoline prices and said places like Indiana must be home to advances in clean-energy technology in order for the nation to compete economically.
“I don’t want the new breakthrough technologies and the new manufacturing taking place in China and India,” Obama said. “I want all those new jobs right here in Indiana, right here in the United States of America, with American workers, American know-how, American ingenuity.”
Obama pointed to stimulus grants for the advanced battery industry and his proposed $7,500 tax rebate for electric vehicles as evidence of the depth of his commitment to spurring growth in alternative energy industries in the U.S.
