House technology wins award for efforts to consolidate computing, save money

“I’m most proud of the fact that our spirit of
innovation
has not only saved energy, but also taxpayer dollars.”

The CAO’s introduction of the new servers came as
the House
was quickly approaching an electrical overload several years ago as the
electronic
and technological needs of lawmakers continued to increase.

“They are saving the taxpayers $2,000 a day,” said
Ken
Brill, Uptime’s founder, according to a press release issued by the CAO.

Other finalists to receive the Uptime Institute’s
awards in
other categories this year were Microsoft, Yahoo!, eBay, Hewlett Packard
and
Verizon Wireless.
