Eshoo urges NTIA to find solution for LightSquared’s interference issues

{mosads}The Federal Communications Commission ordered LightSquared to undergo another round of testing to resolve the GPS issues. NTIA is the agency that will lead the testing.

“LightSquared’s proposal to build a nationwide terrestrial-based wireless broadband network, offers exciting job opportunities for our nation,” she wrote in a letter obtained by The Hill. “It is well worth the effort to work on interference issues to the nearby GPS band. I have the utmost confidence that a solution can be obtained by both parties that will mitigate any harmful interference.”

She said LightSquared will achieve President Obama’s goal of bringing high-speed wireless service to 98 percent of Americans.

Republican lawmakers have called for an investigation of LightSquared’s ties to the administration after emails reveal the company had communicated with senior White House aides. Reports said the administration also asked an Air Force general to change his congressional testimony to make it more supportive of the wireless startup.
