Sen. Boxer urges Sprint, T-Mobile to beef up voicemail security

{mosads}Lawmakers have shown more interest in the mobile market in recent months as the devices have come to hold a trove of data on users including their personal information, location, contacts, and financial information, significantly raising the risk of identity theft due to a lost phone.

Verizon Wireless always requires a PIN, while AT&T recently announced plans to make entering a PIN to listen to voicemail the default setting for new users. Boxer urged both Sprint and T-Mobile to make requiring a PIN the default setting for new users.
