Verizon CEO denies rumors that he’s eyeing Dish

Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam says he’s not trying to acquire satellite television company Dish.

{mosads}“There were not, and there are not, discussions going on with Dish,” McAdam said at a J.P. Morgan conference on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

“I know there are reports out there that we are talking to Dish. I can tell you now, that is someone’s fantasy,” he said.

Rumors about a Verizon-Dish deal follow an AT&T announcement earlier this week that it plans to merge with DirecTV, which would combine one of the country’s top Internet providers and wireless companies and one of the country’s top satellite television companies.

According to Reuters, McAdam said his focus is on providing “over-the-top” content to be delivered over Verizon’s network.

“I don’t think owning a satellite company is something I’m interested in at this point,” he said.
