Report: Worries over financial data top porn in online privacy fears

A new study finds Americans are more worried about keeping their financial and shopping data from prying eyes online than with hiding porn viewing habits.

{mosads}Seventy-one percent and 57 percent of U.S. users respectively worry about their financial information and online shopping data being compromised, according to the forthcoming study conducted by Harris Interactive, CNET reports.

Sixteen perfect of respondents, though, said they fear their online porn viewing could be spied on, according to the study, conducted on behalf of WPEngine.

According to the study, 27 percent “said they were worried they’ll be observed posting, sending or looking at photos of themselves online.”

The study also found that 66 percent of users felt insecure on social networks, while 56 percent felt insecure on email platforms.

Online gaming platforms and Google Glass — the tech giant’s wearable computer — ranked much lower.

The study, conducted last month, included 2,100 American adults, according to CNET.
