Shake-up at wireless group as two VPs depart

There has been a shake-up at CTIA-The Wireless Association, with at least two longtime staffers heading for the exits.

Chris Guttman-McCabe, an executive vice president, and John Walls, vice president of public affairs, are moving on from the group, according to an email sent to the group’s staff on Monday by CTIA’s chief executive, Meredith Attwell Baker.

Guttman-McCabe and Walls had each been with CTIA for more than a decade. Replacements have not yet been named, but any staff hires will be part of the organization’s restructuring under Baker’s leadership.

Baker, a former commissioner to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), began leading CTIA in April after leaving her post as a top lobbyist for Comcast. She replaced Steve Largent as the group’s CEO.

A CTIA spokeswoman confirmed the details to The Hill on Thursday. Politico first reported the departures.

In July, Baker hired, Brad Gillen, a former aide during her FCC tenure as her chief of staff at CTIA — a newly created position. Before that, he worked as a partner at Wilkinson Barker Knauer and focused his practice on telecommunications policy.
