Snapchat bids Boehner goodbye with special filter
Washingtonians can memorialize Speaker John Boehner’s stunning resignation in an unexpected way — via the photo app Snapchat.
The app, which allows users to send pictures or videos that disappear in a short amount of time, has added a filter available to those using the app in the D.C. area to mark the momentous congressional news.
{mosads}The image sits at the bottom of any image and shows a cartoon Boehner golfing next to a banner that says “Boehner Bids Farewell.”
Other Washington D.C. area filters include neighborhood-specific images and one showing the Great Seal of the United States.
Boehner stunned Washington when he announced his resignation during a Friday meeting with the House GOP caucus. The news roiled Capitol Hill, with close Boehner allies completely caught off guard and lawmakers jockeying for leadership positions.
Boehner is an avid golfer, even hitting the links once with President Obama.
