Few ‘likes’ for ‘Muslims for Trump’ Facebook group

A Facebook page that purports to organize Muslims who support Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has 67 members as of Tuesday, a day after the candidate called for keeping followers of Islam out of the United States.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations condemned his comments as xenophobic and constitutionally tenuous.

{mosads}The social media page — called “Muslims for Trump” — decries the “liberal agenda” and “political correctness” while offering a common right-wing criticism of President Obama: that he has not adequately associated terrorist attacks with radical interpretations of Islam.

It attacks the left for other reasons as well.

“While some of our conservative allies have demonized our community for the murderous ideologies that kill us every day in the name of our own religion, liberal populists welcome us only through equally ignorant moral apathy, naivety, and the prospect of enlightening us,” the page’s description says.

The page says it is not affiliated with Trump’s campaign.

It has been posting links and sharing photos since at least last month. However, it has a much smaller following than “Jews 4 Trump,” a similar page that has more than 7,000 members, or “Catholics for Trump,” which has over 5,500.

Despite widespread criticism of various remarks he has made, the real estate mogul remains the front-runner for the GOP nomination.
