MPAA names former Neustar executive as COO

In a statement, Dodd said Strahan’s background in the tech industry will be beneficial to the MPAA as the film and TV industry continues to adapt to the changing digital media environment.

“Technology, innovation, industry alliances and audience engagement play increasingly important roles as the motion picture and television industry continues to advance into a new era,” Dodd said in a statement. “Diane’s leadership talent will be a major asset for the MPAA and the studios we represent.”

{mosads}Strahan said in a statement that she hopes to leverage her previous experience to help the motion picture and tech industries work together on new media offerings. In her new role, Strahan will oversee the MPAA’s operations and staff and guide the direction of the motion picture lobby.

“Throughout my career, I’ve contributed to global enterprises as well as start-ups in the converging world of digital technology, content and communications,” Strahan said. “The MPAA is at the center of this convergence and I look forward to helping advance the common interests of the film and tech industries so consumers can benefit from a richer and more seamless entertainment experience.” 

Bob Pisano had previously served as the COO and president of the MPAA, though he stepped down in Sept. 2011, a few months after Dodd joined the film lobby. Pisano had also served as the interim CEO of the MPAA while it searched for the next person to head up the lobbying group.
