CDT President Leslie Harris to step down
Leslie Harris, the president of the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), announced on Wednesday that she will step down sometime before March 2014.
CDT’s board has appointed a search committee to pick her successor. CDT is an advocacy group that focuses on Internet freedom, online privacy and free expression.
Harris said she is still determining her next step.
{mosads}”As for me, I plan to take some time once I leave CDT to enjoy our first grandchild arriving this fall, and to consider my next steps, albeit with a greater focus on work-life balance,” she said in a message to staff and supporters. “I remain deeply committed to the issues that drew me to CDT and to the extraordinary community of supporters and partners that help make us successful everyday.”
Harris became the group’s president in 2005. Under her leadership, the group tripled its staff, opened a California office and put more emphasis on EU policy-making.
“CDT is now well positioned to influence tech policy globally,” Harris said.
