Obama picks former Biden aide McSweeny for FTC
{mosads}McSweeny was Biden’s deputy chief of staff and policy director when he was in the Senate and advised him during the 2008 general election campaign. She later served as the domestic policy adviser to the vice president.
McSweeny also worked on the presidential campaigns of Wes Clark in 2004 and Al Gore in 2000. She graduated from Harvard University and Georgetown University Law School.
The White House first announced Obama’s intent to nominate McSweeny on Friday.
Senate Republicans may not be in a hurry to confirm McSweeney because she would give Democrats a 3-2 majority on the commission.
