Snap hires Kerry aide to run global public policy operations

Snap, the company that owns social media app Snapchat, has hired a top aide to Secretary of State John Kerry as its head of global public policy, a company spokeswoman confirmed to The Hill.

Jennifer Park Stout had been Kerry’s deputy chief of staff since March 2015, according to her bio on the State Department’s website.

Reuters first reported the hire on Wednesday.

{mosads}Before joining the State Department, Stout had been an aide in the White House’s legislative affairs office and worked for a number of Democratic lawmakers, including then-Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) from 1998 to 2000, according to her LinkedIn page.

She is not the first former Obama aide to join the company. Rachel Racusen, who did two stints in Obama’s press shop, was hired as Snap’s communications director in September.
