Facebook launches program to combat cyber bullying

{mosads}Maryland educators are “urged to first report questionable or prohibited content through the standard reporting mechanism” on Facebook, the release said.

If the problem is not addressed in 24 hours, schools can bring concerns directly to Facebook through the site’s “Educator Escalation Channel.”

Every school system in Maryland will appoint “a single point person responsible for direct communications with Facebook” to “accelerate” the reports of cyber bullying that aren’t addressed in 24 hours.

“Facebook continues to look for ways to help parents, teens and educators better understand the safety features build into our service,” Facebook’s Brooke Oberwetter said in a statement, thanking Gansler “for his national leadership on the issue of online safety and for working with us to create this pilot program in Maryland.”
