Trump on return to Iowa: ‘I promised to come back, and here I am’

President Trump returned to Iowa Wednesday to thank the supporters who helped sweep him to a victory in the presidential election.

In remarks at Kirkland Community College in Cedar Rapids, Trump told the crowd he had promised to come back to see them. “And here I am,” he said.

“Just landed in Iowa. See everyone soon! #MAGA,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

{mosads}Trump is also giving a sendoff to former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R), who is Trump’s new ambassador to China, and promoting technology and agriculture.

White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters told reporters on the way to Iowa that the president will discuss how the agriculture sector is taking advantage of new technology, according to the White House pool report. 

The Trump campaign had previously scheduled a rally in Iowa for May to follow Trump’s first trip aboard but had to reschedule the event for June 21.
