Uber co-founder: Kalanick ‘not returning as CEO’

One of Uber’s co-founders is tamping down rumors that Travis Kalanick, the company’s former CEO, will eventually return.

“Despite rumors I’m sure you’ve seen in the news, Travis is not returning as CEO,” Garrett Camp, a current Uber board member, wrote in an email to employees that was obtained by Recode. “We are committed to hiring a new world-class CEO to lead Uber.”

{mosads}“Uber must evolve and mature as we improve our culture and practices, to achieve our mission of bringing mobility to everyone,” Camp continued.

Kalanick resigned in June after some of Uber’s top investors urged him to step down, following a string of controversies under his leadership and two independent investigations into allegations of rampant sexual harassment in the workplace.

Recode also reported last month that Kalanick was planning a comeback at the company — “Steve Jobs-ing it” as he reportedly put it to friends.
