AT&T: Mueller contacted us about Cohen

AT&T said Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller has contacted the company about the payments it previously made to President Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

“When we were contacted by the Special Counsel’s office regarding Michael Cohen, we cooperated fully, providing all information requested in November and December of 2017,” an AT&T spokesperson said in a statement obtained by The Hill.

“A few weeks later, our consulting contract with Cohen expired at the end of the year. Since then, we have received no additional questions from the Special Counsel’s office and consider the matter closed.”

AT&T said Tuesday that it had paid Cohen for “insights” on the Trump administration.

The payment was first revealed in a report released by Stormy Daniels’s lawyer Michael Avenatti, which stated the firm paid Cohen’s shell company a total of $200,000 from late 2017 to 2018.

The telecommunications company did not say how much it paid Cohen’s company.

AT&T’s statement comes the same day that global pharmaceutical company Novartis said that Mueller had also contacted the pharmaceutical firm over payments it made to Cohen’s shell company.

“Novartis cooperated fully with the special counsel’s office and provided all the information requested,” the company said in a statement.

Novartis said it had paid Cohen a total of $1.2 million as part of a yearlong contract, but that it had stopped consulting with Cohen after an initial meeting in March 2017.

A Novartis employee claimed that Cohen had contacted the company last year, offering access to Trump and his administration.
