Host of Trump social media platform expecting more than 75M users

The internet infrastructure company that will host former President Trump’s new social media platform says it expects the network to have more than 75 million users.

RightForge, which is known for hosting conservative sites, will host Trump’s “Truth Social” network, Axios first reported, with company CEO Martín Avila telling the news outlet on Monday that it has been “laying the groundwork” for Truth Social to have more than 75 million users. 

“That’s why there will be servers everywhere,” Avila said.

Representatives affiliated with the network declined to comment to Axios on whether RightForge is their provider.

The Hill has reached out to Trump Media & Technology Group for comment.

The former president, who following the Jan. 6 insurrection was banned from Twitter and suspended from Facebook over his false claims on the 2020 election, announced the launch of Truth Social last week. A beta launch for “invited guests” is expected in November, and a full launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022. 

In a statement issued through Trump Media & Technology Group on Tuesday, the former president said his network would combat “self-righteous scolds and self-appointed arbiters” who decide what people “think, say, share, and do.”

Avila told Axios that Trump’s team approached RightForge over the summer and that those who support Trump being de-platformed are “not really interested in living in a free country.”

“And that’s really what we’re all about is making sure that America stays true to its core ideas, and that the marketplace of ideas stays open,” he said.
