Kerry thanks telecom firms for help in Haiti

Verizon and AT&T have contributed through their foundations. And many carriers have set up text message campaigns to contribute to humanitarian organizations, like the Red Cross and non-profit Yele Haiti.

You can text “90999” to donate $10 to the Red Cross or text “Yele” to “501501” to donate $5 to Yele Haiti.

Satellite firms Iridium, CapRock Government Services and Inmarsat are supporting government relief efforts in Haiti and neighboring Dominican Republic.

Kerry thanked these companies for “stepping up to the plate.”
