Cablevision overwhelmingly favors Democrats

The company also hired more Democrats than Republicans to lobby Congress last year.

Cablevision’s top issue — retransmission consent — picked up more support from Democrats than Republicans.

Senate communications subcommittee Chairman John Kerry (Mass.) authored legislation that would have strengthened cable’s hand in fee disputes with broadcasters. He also held a hearing on the issue in November.

With Republicans not expressing an appetite to amend the rules, any effort could fall on the Federal Communications Commission, which has an open proceeding about the issue.
