Poll shows support for banning drivers from using cellphones

{mosads}But the NTSB called this week for all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, to ban everything other than devices “used for driving tasks,” such as GPS systems. A new poll released by the website SodaHead.com shows 56 percent of 997 respondents agreed with the NTSB’s proposal, while 44 percent said they did not.

Among female respondents, support for the proposal was 60 percent, while 52 percent of men said they agreed with the NTSB’s proposal. Seventy-eight percent of respondents older than 65 supported the proposal, while only 47 percent of respondents between 25 and 34 years old said they did.

Seventy percent of self-identified liberals said they supported the proposal, while 49 percent of conservatives backed the proposed ban.
