Senators renew bus safety calls after holiday crashes
“This is unacceptable,” she continued. “With the summer travel season upon us, it is critical for the Senate to pass Sen. Brown and my legislation without any further delay.”
Hutchison and Brown’s bill was recently approved by the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
The issue received increased attention after a series of bus crashes in March resulted in 17 people being killed. Congress held hearings on the issue, at which Brown and Hutchison testified.
Department of Transportation officials have responded by increasing the number of random inspections they perform.
