DC Metro Silver Line extension set for ‘substantial completion’ in November

{mosads}The Airport Authority’s president said the agency would make sure it completed testing of its own before it turned the railway over to Metro. 

“We are looking forward to the day when passengers ride the Silver Line,”  Potter said in a statement. “We are nearing the completion of Phase 1, but we will not sacrifice quality for speed. Safety and performance are always our top priorities.”

Construction on the Silver Line was originally scheduled to be completed by August. The railway is one of the largest public transportation projects that is currently under construction in the U.S., and the line has received $900 million from the federal government.

The first phrase of the new railway is scheduled to join the Washington Metro’s five other subway lines is scheduled to run from Prince George’s County, Md. to Reston, Va. Construction on the portion of the line that is scheduled to reach Dulles Airport is not scheduled to be completed until 2018.
