Rep. Kucinich: Bridge report shows need for new monetary policy

{mosads}Kucinich said changing the set-up of monetary policy in the country could make it easier for Congress to invest in transportation projects without having to find new revenue streams.

“We can meet our infrastructure needs by simply spending money into circulation, while controlling inflation and creating over 7 million jobs,” he said. “We have to make our bridges safe. Failure is not an option.

“We have the workers,” he continued. “We have the materials. We have the know-how.  Now we have a bill in the House to do it without any further taxes or borrowing.”

The Transportation for America report showed there were 69,223 bridges in the U.S. that are in dire need of repair.
