$1.1M found in airplane bathroom

Airplane cleaners in India found $1.1 million worth of gold in the restroom of a plane that had recently landed from Thailand, The Associated Press reports.

The discovery was made while the airplane’s bathroom was being cleaned.

Officials said the gold bars were stored in two bags. India recently increased its duty on gold imports, leading to an increase in smuggling attempts, according to the report.
