Airlines made $3 billion profit in 3Q

Airlines made a $3.2 billion profit in the period between the beginning of July and the end of September, The Washington Post reports.

{mosads}A large portion of the profits came from bag and reservation change fees — $879 million and $735 million respectively — according to the report.

The profit margin was an increase of $1.4 billion over the numbers that were posted by U.S. airlines in the third quarter of 2012, the paper said.
