Amtrak alters train schedules due to cold weather

Amtrak is altering service on its popular northeast routes on Tuesday because of expected cold weather that is forecast for the region.

Temperatures are expected to top out in the teens in major cites along Amtrak’s northeast corridor, which is home to its most heavily-used routes.

“Due to extreme cold forecasted to impact the Northeast, #Amtrak will operate a modified schedule on the NEC & Empire Line on Tues, Jan.7,” the company wrote.

Amtrak said service would remain normal on its Keystone service in Pennsylvania and on its Downeaster service in Maine and Springfield Shuttle in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
