Former highway administrator joins DC law firm
Former National Highway and Traffic Safety Administrator David Strickland is joining Washington, D.C. law firm Venable LLP’s, the company announced Wednesday.
Strickland resigned from the NHTSA last month after almost four years atop the highway safety agency.
{mosads}Strickland was replaced at the NHTSA by the agency’s Deputy Administrator David Friedman on an interim basis. Friedman is serving on an interim basis.
The highway safety administrator post is a Senate confirmable-position.
Other notable figures at Venerable include former Sen. Birch Bayh (D-Ind.), former Transportation Secretary James Burnley and former Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.).
“From the Hill to the Administration, David is well respected and understands the often complex regulatory process from different points of view,” Venable Government Division co-chair Brock Landry said in a statement announcing Strickland’s hire. “He will play a key role in the ongoing growth of our Government Affairs, Automotive, and Technology practices.”
