Colorado airport offers marijuana users ‘amnesty boxes’
A Colorado Airport is offering “amnesty boxes” for airline passengers who are carrying marijuana on their way to catch their flights, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports.
Colorado legalized recreational marijuana use earlier this year, but airports in the state have kept their bans in place, citing Transportation Security Administration rules.
The Colorado Springs Airport is installing boxes, where passengers can anonymously deposit their otherwise-legal marijuana before they reach TSA checkpoints, according to the report.
The paper said marijuana that is collected by the amnesty boxes would be destroyed.
