Wrong airport landings common
Airplanes attempting to land at the wrong airport happens more often than you probably think, the Associated Press reports.
One-hundred fifty flights have at least started to descend at the wrong airport in the U.S. since 1990, the report said.
{mosads}The analysis follows a high-profile landing by a Southwest Airlines flight at the wrong airport in Kansas last month.
A frequent spot for confusion is San Jose’s Mineta International Airport, according to the report. Six reports were filed with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about planes that attempted to land at San Diego’s Moffett Field, which is about 10 miles away from the Mineta airport.
