Former TSA agent becomes mixed martial arts fighter
A former Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agent is trying her hand at mixed martial arts fighting, the Las Vegas Sun reports.
The fighter, Kari Lichtenwalner, worked at a security checkpoint at Las Vegas’s McCarran International Airport before she started her MMA career.
Now, Lichtenwalner is preparing to participate in the World Fighting Championships tournament for amateur MMA fighters in Las Vegas on Sunday.
{mosads}Lichtenwalner attributed her conversion from TSA agent to martial arts combatant to a desire to get in better shape, according to the report.
“All of this is an accomplishment to me because this all started when I was pushing 200 pounds and wanted to get in shape,” she told the paper. “That’s what got me into Muay Thai. There was no martial arts background, not even a desire to fight.”
