Infrastructure group launching ad in South Carolina
The husband in the commercial is agreeable to that argument, saying “If someone did that, I’m for spending more,” before an announcer closes by saying “Done right, we can build America’s future.”
Building America’s Future is pushing for steady transportation as lawmakers gear up to debate a new surface transportation bill when they return to Washington. The current funding for road projects, which was extended temporarily last fall, is set to expire in March. Some proposals that have been put forth by Republicans would reduce the amount of money that is spent on the bill, which is typically authorized in six-year increments.
BAF South Carolina Steering Committee member Randy Show said the organization hopes “this substantial ad buy will help educate South Carolina policymakers and voters on the need for smart infrastructure investment and reform.”
“While our state’s population has grown by over 28 percent in the last ten years, our infrastructure has failed to keep up,” he said in a statement. “This issue is not about increasing spending – it is about making tough choices that maximize economic return, improve safety and quality of life, stop spending on wasteful projects, and strengthen America’s economic competitiveness around the world.”
