Asiana Air suspending San Francisco flights after 2013 crash

Asiana Airlines is suspending its flights from Seoul, South Korea to San Francisco International Airport after a 2013 crash landing that killed three passengers, Reuters reports

The airline is being forced to suspend its daily flight to San Francisco for 45 days by the South Korean transport ministry, according to the report.

{mosads}The suspension is being attributed to Asiana’s failure to adhere to South Korean safety protocols when Flight 214 crash landed at the San Francisco airport in July 2013.

The accident, resulted in about 180 injuries in addition to the three fatalities, which occurred just days after Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx was sworn in to office.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has said that the plane, which was a Boeing 777, was flying too slowly, as it attempted to land in San Francisco, resulting in the crash landing.

Asiana Airlines is expected to lose $13 million as a result of the San Francisco flight suspension.
