The week ahead: Conference to begin on highway bill
{mosads}“It is my real hope that when we get back to work this
month, the House will take [the Senate bill] up and will pass it so that
states
and municipalities and counties all over the country can get folks to
work this
summer,” Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) said in an interview with MSNBC.
Additionally, the House Transportation and Infrastructure
and Oversight and Government Reform committees will hold a hearing on
the
Transportation Security Administration’s airport security techniques.
Officials say the hearing will focus on whether the TSA is
“effectively procuring, deploying, and storing aviation security
equipment and
technology.”
Outside of Washington, a group of eight U.S. and
foreign automakers will demonstrate a standardized charging system for
electric cars, which they
say will “harmonize” the technology and speed up charging times.
The
companies – Ford, General Motors, Chrysler-Daimler, Audi, BMW, Porsche
and Volkswagen – have said they will unveil the chargers at the Electric
Vehicle Symposium Sunday through Wednesday in Los Angeles.
