Tea Party Express endorses Rep. Sandy Adams in GOP primary over Rep. Mica

{mosads}Adams, a freshman lawmaker, said Monday that she was glad to have the support of Tea Party Express.

“Our campaign has been built on the grassroots support of people who are fed up with business as usual in Washington and want to fix the way Congress works,” she said in a statement. “They support our campaign of fiscal responsibility, limited government and repealing ObamaCare. Together, we will show the country that the conservative movement is stronger than ever.”

Adams and Mica are in one of the most contentious intraparty fights since congressional districts were redrawn after the 2010 elections, and will face off in an Aug. 14 primary.

The battle between the two Florida lawmakers has intensified, with Mica’s campaign on Monday accusing Adams of breaking House rules by using floor footage critical of the Transportation chairman in a campaign ad. Adams’s campaign called the charge from Mica’s team “desperate.”
